My Story
Alex is a media composer living in Los Angeles, where he has been honing his craft for the past four years. Prior to that, he spent eight formative years in Chicago during his twenties. His musical journey began at the age of 13 when he picked up a guitar for the first time, driven by the desire to create something original rather than play covers. Now, at 31, that same passion to experiment with new sounds and storytelling remains strong.
Throughout his career, Alex has worn many hats in the music industry, working as a producer, performer, writer, engineer, and even a licensing manager. He has played various instruments in bands, toured across the U.S., and collaborated with talented artists across genres. This multifaceted experience enriches his perspective as a creator, enabling him to approach each project with a holistic understanding of the musical process.
Currently, he is excited to be co-composing a documentary about Bob Baker's Marionette Theater alongside the talented Thomas Kotcheff, known for his work on acclaimed scores such as the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and The Wild Robot. Their score for the film, set to be released in 2026, will focus on strings, creating a whimsical yet emotional palette that resonates with the enchanting world of puppetry and storytelling.
Alex draws inspiration from a wide range of influences, including Brian Eno, Trent Reznor, Cliff Martinez, Tame Impala, Sufjan Stevens, and M83. This eclectic mix shapes his unique sound, allowing him to blend synths and effects with the warmth of natural instrumentation, such as piano and strings. He enjoys experimenting to create distinctive soundscapes that elevate the narrative of each project.
In addition to composing, Alex works in music licensing at Alcon Sleeping Giant Music Group, where he has contributed to high-profile projects like The Garfield Movie and Amazon's upcoming Blade Runner 2099 series. This role deepens his connection to the music industry and enhances his versatility.
As he continues to explore new musical avenues, Alex remains passionate about storytelling through sound. Whether composing for film, collaborating with other artists, or working on personal passion projects, his goal is to create experiences that resonate deeply with audiences.
